Sharon Mansfield is co-owner of The Tin Thimble, resident artist and has taught over 3,000 students in dyeing, felting, sewing, appliqué and more. She grew up spending as much time as she could in her grandfather’s woodworking shop. As a master craftsman from Norway, he created tables and cabinets as well as gorgeous pen and ink drawings. Inspired to create, Sharon started working with needle and thread at a very young age. As a young adult she studied weaving, spinning, basket making, knitting, crocheting, quilting, natural dyeing and other creative fiber endeavors. Since opening The Tin Thimble in Newcastle, CA in 2007 she has worked almost exclusively in felting, sewing and hand dyeing. She believes that everyone is an artist and feels extremely privileged to be able to teach and share her work with others.
Her works have been published in Mary Jane’s Farm & Belle Armoire.
Her artwork has been featured in the Blue Line Arts Gallery, the Sacramento Center for the Textile Arts, and is always on display at The Tin Thimble.
