Patterns can seem overwhelming at first, but after this class you’ll be more than comfortable with their mysterious symbols. We will cover the basics of sewing pattern reading, including, notches, straight of grain, darts, proper layout, how to decipher correct sizes and fabric amounts and more. This is a great introductory class for those interested in learning how to make their own clothing. Throughout the workshop, students will work on a ‘muslin’ of their pattern. Please note that garments will not be complete by the end of the course.
You are welcome to bring a sewing machine if you have one, but it must have been serviced in the last 6 months. We simply don’t have time to deal with mechanical issues. If you don’t have a machine, but you still want to take the class, you are more than welcome to borrow one of ours!
This class will be capped at 3 students to ensure that each student receives the proper amount of attention. The small class size means it will fill up quickly, be sure to register as soon as you can!
For ages 13-Adult. We will take a 30 minute lunch break during this course, please bring your lunch. The cost of the pattern and fabric for this workshop is included in the class fee.
