“I have called on the Goddess and found her within myself”

Lorra Lee Rose will be instructing this exciting workshop for all skill levels. It’s about possibilities, trying on ideas and most importantly, playing. We will be starting with an armature from manzanita root or branch, were you will learn proportions and building her shape to your desire. We will then explore a variety of construction methods using some of my favorite materials: lush velvets, vintage laces, supple leathers, to form her dress. No sewing or very little sewing needed. You will have a choice of amethyst, ammonite, geode, or other stones, that would suggest her face. Her ornate headdress will be created with natural color feathers. There will be a collection for you to chose from. If time allows, there will be beads, pearls and stones you can add a necklace or details to her dress. Your Goddess will be ready for hanging.

Supply fee $45 payable to instructor at beginning of class includes:

Access to her 30+ year collection of fancy feathers, armature materials, variety of stones to choose from, that represents her face. A choice of luxurious velvet, vintage laces and soft leather. All tools needed. An assortment of beads, pearls and stones for added detail, thread and beading needles, if time allows.

No prior experience required. This class is perfect for beginners!

Students please bring a bagged lunch and sharp scissors.

Lorra Lee Rose’s journey started in 1986. With feathers as her chosen medium, she has cultivated a network of pet owners and aviaries who gather the molted, natural color feathers. Birds shed a small handful of feathers per season, seriously restricting the supply and thus requiring years of patience and preparation. She has been teaching since 1989, from public schools to mixed media art retreats. Self taught, and a recipient of numerous awards, private commissions, showings at art festivals, galleries and exhibits in museums, Lorra Lee has maintained a flourishing career as a prolific artist.
