Hello Thimble fans. Now that Sharon is done with the wedding madness, she has found herself with a lot of time to nuno felt, botanical dye and wet felt. Here are three of her latest pieces!
A while back, we shared a post on Instagram about a new project Sharon was working on and ta-da! Here is her beautiful ‘pansy’ scarf.
This was one of those great felting projects where the flowers were so fluffy, and you thought, for just a brief moment, is this going to look OK? And then, bam!, Sharon felted it and it was beautiful. She used a ton of texture (added after these in-progress photos were taken) including lots of yarn and silk to make the flowers really pop. We love it and think it’s perfect for spring weddings.
If if was the “new class” part of the title that caught your attention, here it is! Sharon’s darling nuno felt beach bag has us thinking of waves, cruise ships and pina coladas. This slouchy sling bag will become a class if we have enough students interested. If you’d like to have your name added to the list for this workshop, call us at 916-652-2134 and we can give you more details!
Last, but not least, Sharon finished up this nuno felted scarf just yesterday! She used a lattice technique to create open holes in parts of the scarf. She embellished it with lots of chunky yarn and felted the edges a lot to achieve a very “ruffled” edge. Students interested in learning to make more technical scarves, like this one, can look into our Intermediate Nuno Felted Scarf class.
What new projects have you completed lately? We always love to see what you’re up to. If you’re on Instagram, tag your photos with #thetinthimble to share projects you’ve made using our materials, or techniques. If you’re not on Instagram, bring yourself and your project into the shop so we can applaud you!

I just love the pansy scarf-runner. And the beach bag is not too shabby either.
