Look at this exquisite thing! Mom made this Melissa Arnold‘s Resist Shaped Felt class. The caplet was created using a batt (to which mom added a montage of fun fibers & hand dyed wool). She incorporated mohair into the center of the “flowers” and a lot of silk into the body. Shibori stitching helped to form the wet felt into rope like structures you see running the length of the piece. Lastly, two absolutely gorgeous vintage buttons act as the closure.
It can be worn with the button closure in the front or…
with the closure in the back. Worn with the buttons in the back, I think it resembles an upside-down crocus. Opened ‘flowers’ peek out all over the caplet and have pops of colorful mohair appearing from the center of each one.
We will offer this class again with Melissa this fall or winter. Keep your eyes peeled for it, or call us at 916-652-2134 to be alerted when the class is offered next.
